About The Video

Mel Torme claimed that he and Robert Wells wrote this song in 20 minutes in the summer of 1946 in Los Angeles. From the first evocotive lyric - Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire - one can tell that the song took on its on momentum and wrote itself in no time at all.

Torme's second master stroke was to bring it to Nat Cole who turned it into a two-minute symphony and a signature song. This version is from Nat's short-lived 1957 television show.
